CLASSROOM GRANT REPORTS

On January 23rd, the APSF Board of Trustees approved $86,000 of classroom grant funding for 93 Auburn School district classrooms.  Just one of many excited classrooms pictured here: Michele Lingwall, ECE teacher at Evergreen Heights! We are thrilled to partner with so many teachers to facilitate innovative learning experiences. More grant reports coming soon!

APSF awarded our Ilalko library $995.17 to purchase new books for our biography collection!  It was especially outdated and did not represent the beautiful diversity of our students. We can't thank the Auburn Public Schools Foundation enough for their support in transforming the biography collection in our library! Our students can now read new books about people overcoming challenges and making an impact on humankind. They can read about how perseverance and character can lead to success. Most importantly, our Ilalko students can learn that these exceptional people started out as young children, with important choices to make, just like them.

Book Bins — Brillant!

Published 02/06/2023

Last year the APSF awarded us a grant to purchase about 200 book bins in order to transform our library. (I’m guessing you will see similar grant applications from other ASD elementary libraries in the future!)

I just wanted to again thank the APSF for making this possible and let you know that we have already far exceeded our expectations for circulation, independence, and engagement! KIDS LOVE IT!!

Supporting Kids is Right Up Our Alley!

Cascade Middle School 8th graders went on a field trip to Kent Bowl right before winter break.  The students had so much fun and for some it was their first time being in a bowling alley.  Thank you to the Auburn Public Schools Foundation for providing the funds for students to experience bowling. This is a field trip we hope to continue for many years at Cascade.

Quotes from students:
“This is the best field trip ever!”
“Definitely signing up for bowling next semester!”
“Bowling in real life is harder than in the gym.”
“I didn’t realize I was so good!”
